Tasks and Notes

A
Peeling paint and possible rot on SE fascia board.
B
Peeling paint and possible rot on NW fascia board.
C
Peeling paint and possible rot on NE fascia board.

Description

The paint on many of the fascia tails is peeling and the wood is exposed and possibly rotting. Was not able to definitively test as everything was frozen, but rot seems very likely from visual inspection.

Dry rot is decay from fungi that causes wood to become brittle and crumble after prolonged water intrusion. Once the wood becomes infected, it starts to lose its structural integrity. Repaint to seal as best possible and repair at the next roof replacement.

If Not Addressed

The rot will continue to spread and cause more damage if left unattended. It also makes the wood attractive to wood destroying organisms which worsen the problem.

Estimated Costs

We estimate labor costs for this project will be about $150-$350 and material costs about $50-$100. These costs will fluctuate based on the actual conditions the contractor encounters. Request quotes from at least 3 professionals.
